Dear Colleague,

As part of the Year of Numeracy initiative schools are invited to make a bid for financial support for a school based project which will contribute to raising standards in pupil's numeracy skills in your school. Bids should describe the proposed project indicating which of the "Year of Numeracy" objectives are being addressed and including estimated costs. As a guide, it is expected that bids will be typically around £500 although significant projects may be accepted with costs up to £2000. The funding may be spent on cover, training and materials.

Schools might consider working in partnership e.g. with a link/feeder school, the Careers and Education Business Partnership, community groups, colleges etc.

Bids will be judged on the extent to which they support the "Year of Numeracy" aim and objectives and the potential for being shared with other schools in the city.

Schools with successful bids will be required to present their project in a form which enables other schools to benefit from the ideas. There will also be the possibility of further development funding for particularly successful projects.

We look forward to receiving your bid.

In addition another project with similar aims has been launched in the city:

Raising Standards in the Core Skills
