Yenton Junior School

Maths Week

MATHS
AT
WORK
As you walk in the front door of Yenton Junior school, the first things you notice are a pair of very large Cabbage Patch type dolls dressed in the school's two football strips, one for home games and the other away. Surrounding the dolls are examples of pupils work investigating different possible combinations of wearing the games kit.

The football display was only one of many displays around the school which presented mathematics in an exciting, interactive way. Reflecting the recent work of the pupils, the displays ranged from a map of Europe inviting pupils to estimate distances between towns to a probability washing line.

Toni, the Maths Co-ordinator had organised the week around the theme of "Maths at Work". Four local Businesses supported the week and pupils attempted projects connected with these businesses during lesson time
