Greetings from Walker School.

Walker School is an inner-city 11 to 18 years growing school of over 1100 students serving an area of high unemployment on the east of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Our particularly strong features include outdoor education and overseas links. We have our own outdoor pursuits centre in the Lake District which is used every week and weekend throughout the spring, summer and autumn months. We have very strong links with the Ocean Youth Club and each year we normally obtain over 50 Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

We exchange students each year with schools in France, Spain, Denmark and America and we are also involved in curricular links with schools in Norway and Ireland. We will have two teachers seconded overseas from the school next year, one in Canada and one in Australia.

We would greatly value links with other inner city schools.
