Horses

Ag00213_.gif (8173 bytes)

The Warriner School has two horses; one a Suffolk gelding and the other a Clydesdale gelding.

The horses pulls many different carts. On the farm we have three main carts in use. Pulling the carts helps to exercise the horses and stops them getting fat!!

We have a big yellow and red cart Oxfordshire wagon which was built in 1919. As well as this we also have a blue cart called a breaker. It is used for training heavy horses to go between shafts. This cart is the easiest to control and hence is used to train the horses and also to teach pupils how to drive the horses.

In addition we have a variety of other horse drawn vehicles including a tip cart, donkey cart and LMS Railway dray.

In addition to the carts we have some chain harrows which are used to spread muck and pull out dead grass.
