. . .Tourist Information on Flag Fen. . . .

Flag Fen itself is open to the public every day of the year, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The park and the Visitor Center open at 11.00a.m. and close at 5.30p.m. or dusk (in winter). There is a gift shop and a cafeteria in the visitor center. During the excavation season ( Easter to the end of October), the first guided tour is at 11.30a.m, the last at 4.00p.m. There are no guided tours outside the excavation season, but the park, Visitor Center and displays are open. Further information (including admission prices) can be obtained on application to Flag Fen Excavations, Fourth Drove, Peterborough PE1 5UR (Tel 01733 313414). The site is located in Peterborough's Eastern Industrial Area Ordinance Survey Map 142, Grid Reference TL 227989. There are at least six other Flag Fens in Fenland, including one at Whittlesey which appears prominently on Ordinance Survey Maps. So do not be misled! The site is clearly signed from the Peterborough ring-road (A1139).

There is much to see at Flag Fen so please could you allow yourselves at least an hour-and-a-half for a visit.

Peterborough is only 50 minutes from London's King's Cross station and there is a regular service from York and the North. There are also direct rail links with Leicester and the Midlands, Cambridge, Norwich and East Anglia. The bus service to Flag Fen is infrequent (Viscount Bus 30, Queensgate Bus Center) and involves a half-mile walk. We suggest visitors coming by rail take a taxi to the site.
