Phoebe Meets the Five-Headed Monster
The five-headed monster flew the time ship to
a blue planet at the edge of the universe. On this planet lived a young girl called
Phoebe. She lived with her mummy and daddy and her little brother Henry. She was very
happy, but sometimes she wanted to have an adventure. Imagine her surprise when she saw a
timeship land in her back garden! She looked around her to see if anybody else could see
the timeship too, but she was all alone.

At the back of the timeship, she found a small dog, who seemed very unhappy. She tried
to pick him up, but the dog would not let her. It barked and barked. Phoebe looked in at
the windows of the timeship. She saw five heads and thought that there were five people in
there. She smiled at all the heads.
Then, the door opened and one monster appeared. He had five heads! Phoebe did not worry
about that - many of the creatures on her planet had two or three heads. The five-headed
monster growled at her, but Phoebe just said 'Hello, who are you? My name is Phoebe'.
The monster looked surprised and said 'My name is Bertie. Pleased to meet you, Phoebe.'
He explained that he had come from an asteroid many kilometres away in the timeship which
belonged to a hologram boy. He did not know that Hot Dog was still stuck underneath the
timeship.
'We must help him', said
Phoebe. 'He looks very sad - he must miss his friends.'
Phoebe and Bertie very carefully put Hot Dog into the timeship and closed the door
behind them. Then they looked at all the buttons and levers. 'I'm afraid I don't know how
to work this machine, and I don't know where we came from' said Bertie. At that moment,
Hot Dog ran into a corner and hit one of the buttons. The timeship rose into the air and
flew off into space. 'Oh no, said Phoebe, 'What will we do now?'
