Helmets are also a vital aspect of car safety, particularly when car racing. Our skulls are made of tough, hard bone, but the brain inside is very soft and it can get badly damaged if you hit your head hard enough.

Motercycle helmets are made of three parts: a tough outer shell, a foam inner lining and a chin strap. If a motercyclist’s head hits the road, the tough outer shell of the helmet will absorb about a third of the impact around the helmet, so that the force in any one place is reduced.
