This web based student project was written as an entry for the 11-18 category for the 1999 STEM Projects Awards.  The project is based on information contained in the Challenge of Materials Gallery at the Science Museum.

The main aims of the project are:-

• to find out what materials are used in cars to make them safe
• to explore why and how these materials are used

Project Background
Before starting the project our Year 10 class was divided into groups containing two or three pupils.
I chose a project which linked together the Challenge of Materials Gallery and the Moving Around topic in our GCSE course.
