Using Chemicals To Make Nylon

Chemicals today are just not used for making bombs and other scientific explosions not even food but now you make clothes with them by using:-

  1. A very small beaker
  2. Forceps
  3. Glass Rod
  4. Hexanedioxyl dichloride(soluble in 1,1,1 trichloroethane)
  5. Diaminohexane (soluble in water)
  6. safety glasses

METHOD

  1. Pour about 5ml of hexanedioxyl dichloride in a small beaker.
  2. Carefully pour about 2ml of diaminohexane on top, making sure that the two solutions do not mix.
  3. The reaction occurs where the two liquids meet.  You should be able to see a new layer being formed.
  4. Take the pair of forceps and pull out a thread from this layer.
  5. Wind the thread round the glass rod.
  6. By turning the rod gently you should be able to get a long thread of nylon. You can carry on till the two reactants are used up.
