RESEARCH ON ANIMALS
Research on animals for human gain has bee a topic of
much controversy for over one hundred years.Although many people will deem
experimenting on live animals as being very cruel,scientists will argue
that many scientific and medical advances would never have been discovered
if these experiments never took place. They try to stress that the animals
are properly cared for and pain is at at a minimum.
RESEARCH ON HUMANS
Only in rare cases have people been used in experiments
any thing like those used on animals.Most human experiments took place
in Nazi concentration camps where the prisoners were used for medical and
military research.Whereas in the 1950s
the international medical community distinguished between therapeutic research
(new cures are tested on patients) and non-therapeutic research(looking
for new medical knowledge).
