Last term we talked about winter and dinosaurs. The wood provided a wonderful environment for a dinosaur bone hunt and the squirrels created a sculpture of an imaginary creature made from sticks and old roots. Louise Simpson from the Forestry Commission took the children around the wood. They looked for mini-beasts, pretended to be flies and tried to get through a rope spider's web without getting stuck. They also had to be very quiet for Louise to call the birds back. It actually worked. We are hoping Louise will visit again in the summer or autumn. This term we have 19 Squirrels and 19 Hedgehogs. We are going to be looking at Spring, Growth and Farms which will involved some visits to local farms and parks.
